Some narrative comics from the Brooklyn show
Here’s a few comics that are parts of larger stories that I picked up at the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Fest this past weekend.
Box Brown’s Roussimoff. It’s really just his second limited run excerpt of the book, as he builds toward releasing the full thing. Something about the tragic, difficult life of Andre the Giant moved Box, and he’s doing a whole graphic novel about the guy. So far, so great!

Bikeman, by Jon Chad. Oh, wait. I got this at SPX quite a while ago and am only now getting around to writing about it. Who cares? This is about a medieval world where people use bikes in place of horses and there is a mysterious man in the woods who fixes bikes and brings them to life. Apparently (I discovered this myself fifteen minutes ago), Chad is serializing the whole thing on blogspot, free. Still, if you run into him at a show you should pick up a few of his books. They are haunting.
Lastly, Catacombs by Pete Lazarski, of ImaginaryMonsters.com. I confess I bought this book 5% because of its neon screenprinted cover and 95% because I had an instant crush on its protagonist. It’s a dungeon story about a cute warrior-mage whose looking for a magic book and has to take out cthulus and succubi to get it. Awesome. I may not have looked hard enough, but I couldn’t find any images from this book on Pete’s various sites, so I just took a picture of a page myself with my phone.
By the way, I love the name of Peter’s blog. It is, But I’m a Wizard!
